Unix Timestamp Converter

Convert Unix timestamps to dates and dates to timestamps. Live clock plus second and millisecond values. Runs locally.

Your files stay in the browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Current timestamp (local time)

Use cases and practical choices

Use it for API values, order records, analytics events and device timestamps across development, testing and operations. Check units, timezone and source-clock context rather than accepting any conversion that merely looks like a plausible date.

Unix time, epoch seconds and milliseconds

A Unix timestamp counts time from 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC. The date output on this page is displayed in your browser’s local timezone. Contemporary timestamps usually have 10 digits for seconds or 13 for milliseconds; the tool infers units from the numeric value.

1704067200 seconds = 1704067200000 milliseconds = 2024-01-01 00:00:00 UTC

Why the same timestamp can show a different date

The timestamp identifies the same instant everywhere, but local date and time depend on timezone and daylight saving rules. The date picker also interprets input in the browser’s local timezone. Check that timezone before comparing the result with server logs.

How to convert a Unix timestamp

  1. Identify whether you have a Unix timestamp or a date, and confirm whether the source uses seconds or milliseconds. The live clock shows both units and can be paused for comparison.
  2. Paste only the numeric timestamp, without unit suffixes or commentary, and convert to a date displayed in the browser’s local timezone.
  3. For the reverse direction, enter a local date and time, then generate the seconds and milliseconds shown in the result. There is no separate server-timezone selector.
  4. Before comparing with logs or a database, check timezone, unit and date. Do not rely only on digit count for very early or distant values; the tool infers units from numeric magnitude.

Unix timestamp FAQ

Why does the same timestamp differ by hours on another computer?

The timestamp identifies one instant; timezone is applied when displaying a calendar date. This page uses the browser’s local timezone, while a server may use UTC or another zone, with daylight saving also affecting display. Compare in the same zone before treating the difference as corrupt data.

Are 10 and 13 digits always seconds and milliseconds?

That is a useful convention for contemporary timestamps, not a universal rule. The tool infers units from numeric magnitude; very early millisecond values or distant second values can be misinterpreted. The API contract or database field definition is more reliable than counting digits.

Why does date-to-timestamp conversion differ from a UTC converter?

The date picker interprets the entered calendar time in the browser’s local timezone. The same written date and time can refer to different instants in different regions. Check whether another tool uses UTC, local time or a selected zone; this page has no independent timezone selector.

Can I use it to debug orders, device logs or databases?

It helps interpret values and spot seconds-versus-milliseconds mistakes. It does not connect to databases, correct device clocks or configure server timezones. Keep the original value, source unit and timezone context when comparing records; a converted date alone does not capture all log-time semantics.
